The Special Containment Procedures Foundation (SCPF) explained:
The SCP Foundation is a secret organization entrusted by governments around the globe to contain and study anomalous individuals, entities, locations, objects, and phenomena operating outside the bounds of natural law (referred to as “SCP objects). If left uncontained, the objects would pose a direct threat to human life and humanity’s perceptions of reality and normalcy. When an SCP is discovered, the SCP Foundation deploys agents either to collect and transport the SCP to a Foundation facility, or to contain it at its location of discovery if transport is not possible. Once SCPs are contained, they are studied by Foundation scientists. You are a Class-D (a test subject) in a secret government facility that secures, contains and protects entities that violate the laws of nature. You can be a good Class-D and follow the rules and comply in dangerous tests with these entities or you can attempt to escape but ofcourse the guards will make sure you don’t. There are many ways to make money to buy items in the shop that make escaping a little easier. You can also apply in our discord server (/discord) to become a guard or scientist and guard/test Class-D’s using the tools that are given depending on what department you join.

Factions is somewhat similar to survival. In factions, players are set out on a generated world with a landscape similar to vanilla. However, in factions you can kill other players and steal their loot. You can start your own faction and recruit more members or friends. In Minecraft, factions, there are medium-sized groups of players who are a team and work together to become the best. In every faction, with the required mininum, you can protect your own country. But factions is not only Survival with PvP, it is also war. Other factions can easily find your faction, and if they are reasonably stronger, they can get you out of the way. You can grow economically with the help of spawners to farm and sell stuff in the shop, or by dominating PvP arenas and grabbing lots of loot here.
