Wir sind ein vergleichsweise kleiner Server mit einer netten Community und konzentrieren uns auf Freebuild und Survival. Außerhalb der Spawnstadt gibt es keine Grundstücke und wer einen schönen, unbewohnten Ort findet, darf diesen gerne besiedeln. Dabei sind alle Bauwerke willkommen, es gibt keinen vorgegebenen Serverstil und keine Grössenbeschränkungen.
Der Server selbst orientiert sich am Vanilla-Spielgefühl mit einigen zusätzlichen ausgewählten Plugins. Wir versuchen dabei das gute alte Minecraftgefühl am Leben zu erhalten. Es gibt kein Pay-To-Win und keine Adminshops. Handel gibts es nur als Tauschhandel zwischen Spielern.
Wir sind vom Serverstamm ein eher erwachsener Server und freuen uns über jeden vernünftigen Mitspieler, der mit Freude am Spiel und mit Respekt vor fremden Spielleistungen unsere kleine Community bereichern möchte.
The Shacknews Minecraft SMP is long running SMP formed around the Shacknews Chatty forum. Our community has been around since the late 90s, mostly geared towards PC/Console gaming and originally the website was focused on news for id Software's Quake. But grew to cover all gaming topics over the years. Considering we've been around since the 90s, most of our community is older gamers in our 30s-40s. We're welcoming to gamers of any age though!
Our community has been running a Minecraft server since the Minecraft Alpha days in 2010. Our server is PvE focused, mostly on building projects, redstone farms and is pretty laid back. Typically we haven't done server economies or shopping districts, usually shared farms and sharing resources with everyone playing on the server. We are always welcome to feedback, suggestions with all the members and very transparent with all server decisions.
Usually we reset the world for our server on every major Minecraft release, typically once a year. Sometimes it's gone longer between resets if a new Minecraft update hasn't changed much. The past few years interest in Minecraft has dropped off in our community and a lot of regulars depart. So we've decided to open up the server to players outside of Shacknews. We are looking to bring in gamers that are 21+ years old.
Our server is currently running a custom-made Fabric Modpack on Java v1.21.1. The modpack could basically be categorized as Vanilla++ with some good QoL and a few storage & tech mods thrown in! The world on our server was reset with the release of 1.21, so the world is semi-fresh. There is some development around spawn, but most of the world is pretty untouched.

Im currently developing challenge based SMP server and need playtesters in order to know what bugs there are and what to change/improve. Everyone who participate in playtest and leave feedback will receive small thank you package in-game when playtest ends.
After playtest ends, progress and world will not be reset (except in case of major issue).

We are a Minecraft community based SMP server. What's community based, you say? Well, community based means that no one person runs the show. When it comes to the important stuff like plugins and the direction of the server. We put it to a vote within the community.

ABOUT THE SERVER:
The Vortex SMP is a modded, factions-based SMP built to be played with other people. With over 150 mods, you're sure to never run out of things to do. We picked these mods by hand, trying to retain a fantasy/steampunk feel to the game. The base Minecraft version is set to 1.19.2, and we will not be changing it, We can, however, change what mods are in the pack. If you ask one of the admins, or the owner of the server, we're sure to honestly consider adding or removing some mods to the server, if your reasoning is valid.
ECONOMY:
Using the Lightman's Currency mod, we are able to create and use a coin-based currency of varying values to exchange for good and services from other players. Many players have full-time shops. Near the spawn area, you may find a small building. That small building is one of our player's shops, Cosmic. Cosmic can help you in all sorts of ways. He sells decent gear, if you have the funds necessary to purchase it, and he also sells carious items like food, potions, or artifacts. Cosmic can help you throughout your time here in the server, not just at the start. Using the Tetra mod, Cosmic can forge you stronger and stronger weapons as you grow into them, so long as you bring him the materials necessary.

The Origins mod, paired with several other Origins addons, gives you the opportunity to be born as something unique, whether you wish to take to the skies, walk through walls, or take a dip in the Nether Sea.
-Create
Create, paired with several addon mods, allows you to build complex contraptions, from cuckoo clocks to giant world-eating mechs.

Hello all! We are currently looking for mildly to extremely active players to join the Minecraft server known as the Something SMP! We have lore/roleplay on a modded server (mods of which include origins, image to map, enderite, claims, voice chat, and discord integrations, just to name a few).

You can go into #applications to submit an application, and you can read more via the pinned message in #Something SMP info (It is required to join the discord server, as it has the custom modpack, server announcements and the rules of the server, this process also reduces the number of griefers and trolls).

- This is a java server, with no plans for bedrock to be included at this stage.
- We have our end & nether reset every few months, so new players don’t have to spend as long hunting for nether & end items.
- The server owner is on GMT+8, so feedback regarding your application may be slow depending on your timezone.
- Most staff members are also on GMT+8, so applications may be slow depending on when it’s submitted.
- This season's lore cut-off point has already passed, so you won't be able to join lore this season, but you can still join next season's lore. (temp dot point deleted after s3 has ended)
