The Build Team
The EpicQuestz server is home to the EpicQuestz Build Team. Our principal aim is to recreate locations from Peter Jackson’s interpretation of Middle-Earth from Lord of the Rings in a way that is easily available to the Minecraft community. We aim to build in vanilla Minecraft, however, we do build our maps using custom resource packs, which can be found at www.epicquestz.com/resource-packs/

Our server offers creative plots, where you can build anything you want with access to FAWE (Fast Async WorldEdit) and other creative tools, such as VoxelSniper. These creative plots can come in a range of sizes from 65×65, 175×175, 501×501, although 501×501 plots are only available for donors.

Whilst we readily admit that some of our older creations do not live up to current standards, we also believe it is important to keep these available as a record because it is part of our precious history.

Ilu Ambar - Enquenta Arda

Ilu Ambar – Enquenta Arda is a LOTRmodded minecraft server for people who wish to experience creative custom roleplay and building in Tolkiens legendary realm Middle-earth, during the Third Age. The timeline for this server’s roleplay starts at the eleventy-first birthday of Bilbo, Shire reckoning 1401.

This server is a continuation of ‘Ilu Ambar – Quenta Arda’, which started in January 2019 and was discontinued in August 2023, but with a reset world and various server and player builds from the old server.

  • The server is a LOTRmodded minecraft server using the LOTRmod to provide a gameplay environment aimed at long-term immersive roleplay survival, with focus on in-character roleplay, building, PvE and consented PvP. The server world is Middle-earth and uses the LOTRmod the way it is designed to be used.
  • Survival mechanics are set to encourage planning ahead: incapacitation comes with a partial loss of inventory and a random body relocation, and fast transport is restricted.
  • The server has a ruleset and serverside mods (a.o. Lembas with the PvP Mode mod) to support player roleplay immersion and empowerment, and minimum staff monitoring and intervention.
  • As of April 2020, players require the following 7 mods to be able to join: LOTRmod, ArmourersWorkshop, AstikorCarts, BiblioCraft, CustomNPCs, CyanosLootableBodies and MineTweaker. All are included in this Technic modpack: Ilurambar her. We also provide a zipped MultiMC instance.
  • All players are equal and neither staff nor sponsors receive any benefits in-game.
  • The server aims for a community of players who value the server gameplay objectives above the predominantly short-term oriented PvP survival faction warfare that is typical for most minecraft factions/rp/rpg servers. The typical community member is mature, aims for long-term roleplay building and is relatively self-sufficient regarding the gathering of information and in-game resources. The server is whitelisted to ensure players who are allowed to join are aware of their behavioural responsibility. Whitelisting is controlled by trusted players via the Discord server.
  • Players are recruited from the minecraft community focussed on the LOTRmod and themed roleplay.
  • In-game all player characters are expected to ‘physically’ act in-character at all times, except for OOC events. Chatting can be out-of-character in assigned chat channels.
  • Players can toggle their ability to hit or get hit by other players and hired units in friendly and neutral biomes. In enemy biomes, players are ‘free game’, and trackable by others.
  • Characters can be in charge of land they control with the mod’s banner protection system. Any other political rule is to be arranged for by the players. Characters can only claim control of areas around their own bannered bases in own faction home biomes or neutral lands. Banner placement in enemy biomes is prohibited.
  • The world political map is static with respect to the faction home biomes. There is only ‘taking over’ of lands / conquest warfare in neutral biomes and only with players consent.
  • The server offers options to create and organise staged battles using the SiegeMode mod. Players can create scenes and organise battles or sieges with minimal staff support.
  • New players start in a spawn area where they can select one of several tens of (sub-)factions. Upon selection they are granted a bonus alignment with the faction of their choice and two allied factions, they get negative alignment with all enemy factions defined by the LOTRmod, and are then teleported to the spawn location of their choice. Faction selection is a one-way process … but players are allowed to create new characters and even resume playing old characters every week!
  • Players do not unlock access to The Shire upon joining the server and they start with nothing in their inventory. The (sub-)faction spawn locations are simple platforms and are banner protected to ensure no enemy units or invasions spawn there. Players will have to gather their resources and craft their gear themselves, or get it from other faction members on the spot.
  • Besides the numerous procedurally generated structure the server has no premade lore builds. There are no builders with creative mode and no server shops selling construction materials. The number of impressive, survival made builds gradually grows and each of them turn into fitting sites fit for immersive roleplay.
    Note: Upon the launch of this server, we have a small team of temporarily empowered builders active to finish a limited number of player builds transferred from the old server.
  • Griefing, trolling, bullying and landscape scarring are prohibited.
  • The original server was opened for whitelisted players on January 15 2019 and is replaced by this server in August 2023, with a reset world using the same seed. We plan to remain active for many years to come.
  • Utumno is closed atm, but planned to be opened.
    Note: Utumno was opened permanently on Quenta Arda on the first serversary on January 15 2020.
  • We have a vast catalogue of custom, LOTR themed paintings available for use in-game through use of the Emmaitar modall with their own dedicated crafting recipe and fully documented in our Discord server.
  • Players can purchase NPC spawn eggs from middlemen spread around the numerous faction spawn sites and even customise their own trader NPCs.
  • There are also special mercers that sell and buy a range of products players cannot obtain or sell elsewhere in Middle-earth.
  • Besides the aforementioned, we have a range of special features to make life on our server more enjoyable than on others, a.o.: formations of hired troops are a thing, bomb damage is greatly reduced, player drops float around longer than the default 5 minutes, players can sit down on objects as they please and various recipes to make life more enjoyable, like recipes to combine lower tier smith scrolls to higher tier ones.

    Lords of Westernesse is a Minecraft fantasy roleplay server set in Tolkien’s legendarium during the second age of Middle Earth. It focuses on the colonization of Middle Earth by the Númenoreans. Players will build and create their own settlements, and join those that other players have created. The narrative is player-driven, as well as the gameplay.

    Númenorean colonists are divided into two factions, the Faithful and the King’s Men. The Faithful are friendly with the Elves and advocate for peace and learning. They venerate Eru, and despise Melkor. They take many of their names in Sindarin, although some remain in Adûnaic. The King’s Men however have abandoned the friendship of the Elves, and they prefer to conquer and build in Middle Earth, taking the lands and homes of Middle Men and Southrons. They have forsaken the teachings of Eru and instead swear undying fealty to their kings. They distrust Ekves and the Faithful as well. At this point, both Faithful and King’s Men have crossed the sea to colonize Middle Earth.

    We use an edited version of Lord of the Rings Minecraft Mod for a map of Middle Earth during the Second Age.

    What is Minecraft Middle Earth?

    Minecraft Middle Earth is a project with the goal to create the lands, towns and areas of Middle Earth.

    We do this by organizing ourselves as a group and with methods to build the areas. The server has a very experienced group of creative staff members who set up jobs and projects.

    Themed Builds

    Every week there is a new Themebuild. These are basically weekly build contests you can either join to get a new rank, or in order to improve your building skills. You’ll receive feedback if you wish by our creative staff! Since every week features a new theme, you can easily try again with a theme that you like better.

    Jobs and Projects?

    Projects are a collection of tasks that require massive creativity and work (building Gondor, Moria, Mordor, ..). These are usually split up in smaller tasks in which everyone can help out as long as there is a staff member online. These jobs could be building furniture in houses, building houses, farmland, roads, walls, outposts etc…

    You’ll receive creative mode and creative flying so there is no need to gather the resources. Just creative building!

    What do I need to join?

    MCME is easy to join as you don’t need any mod pack. Just join the server and go through a New Player Quiz with some basic questions, and start exploring all the places we already built. You are able to fly and teleport to places.

    🌐 ｢ Our Server in a Nutshell ｣ 🌐

    We are a new server – our community and buildings are all since mid February of 2024. Our current map is 12k by 12k, with plans to periodically expand and make new vanilla content accessible as it is released. Our vision is to have a server that is as vanilla as possible, while also addressing issues such as the limited map size, looters, and the difficulty of getting 10+ players to sleep at the same time. As such, we have implemented a handful of plugins including renewable elytra (via the ender dragon fight), a simple chest shop system using a currency that is interconvertible with diamonds, and night skip with just one player sleeping. Phantoms are also disabled unless requested for membranes.

    We have an outstanding community of builders! This is true both of aesthetically pleasing buildings and cohesive community spaces as well as of efficient and high-throughput farms. Check out Sharing > Builds and Sharing > Farms on our Discord, as well as our photo galleries linked below! If you are more of a aesthetic builder or more of an efficient farm maker, don't worry. There are plenty of players who are happy to help fill in the gaps for you!

    We have no land claims plugin, but rest assured your builds and items are safe! We use CoreProtect, a plugin which keeps detailed logs of blocks, items, entities, and more. It allows for custom, precision rollbacks of specific players, time ranges, locations, and more for convenient grief reversal – all in real-time while the server is running. A command from this plugin is enabled which allows all players to check the logs of containers and spaces so you can see if alterations have been made by someone who does or does not have your permission.

    Community First: Our primary goal is to foster a fun, cooperative, supportive community on our server. Profit from the server is not a short or long-term goal. We want to scale and develop our community, but at a pace that is reasonable and sustainable.

    Long-Term Map: We plan to never reset the map. We want builds, farms, and communities made on the server to be permanent, and this is why we have opted for an expanding map to incorporate content from new releases.

    Work Hard, Play Hard: The server is on hard difficulty. There is no keepinventory, no /tp, no warps other than /spawn and /home, and staff will not use tools to roll back legitimate deaths or mistakes that do not violate the rules. We hope in our community you will become a pro gamer – not a pro beggar or pro hoarder. We aim to preserve the minimalism and realism of Minecraft, as we believe these features are essential for maximizing players' sense of immersion in our world and community.

    No P2W: We do not and will not even remotely resemble a Pay to Win server. We do accept donations. There are currently no perks for donors, but if any future perks are added they will be purely cosmetic (e.g. colored names or tags in game or on Discord).

    OUR FOUNDING PHILOSOPHIES

    This part is a little wordy I admit, but these are the fundamental 5 pillars that hold our server up and govern every decision we make. These will always be upheld and used to judge any potential additions or changes in Dominion's future.

    The Vanilla Experience

    Dominion is committed to preserving the vanilla Minecraft experience. We will never add any any plugins, datapacks, or otherwise which fundamentally make the game easier, harder, or different than vanilla. You will never see plugins such as mcMMO, Jobs, NPC's and similar on our server.

    In addition, while Dominion does provide a Donator rank, this is purely for players who wish to give back and help fund the server. Donators do not and will not ever receive any benefits beyond a shiny yellow name.

    Transparency

    We believe that it is each player's right to know exactly how much money is raised though donations and how it is spent. In the spirit of this transparency, we release monthly updates on all expenses and donations.

    We are also completely open about any community issues that may arise such as dismissal of staff, banning of influential players, and integrity changes to how the server functions. During these times, we allow for open discussion and provide insight into any decision making.

    Community Voice

    We pride ourselves on listening to our community. We welcome comments, critique, and honest opinions. Through that openness, we are able to continuously improve our server and community because of your feedback.

    For all major changes or addition to our server, be it a new plugin, settings changes etc., we run a poll where every member of the community gets to cast a vote. Polled content/changes only take effect if the community votes at a majority 75% approval rating.

    Playing Together

    We founded Dominion on this major principle: Create a space for players to play together, not just be strangers in the same world. To help foster our close community, we run weekly events ranging from one off quick PVP maps to massive large scale build-athons.

    For those who prefer more long-term collaboration, we have a dedicated space in our Discord for larger player ran projects such as modern city districts, gaming districts, special mega-farms, and more.

    New Content Now

    When a new update drops, it can be frustrating to wait for your favorite server to update so that you can enjoy all of the new and exciting content. We purposely run a lightweight, almost-vanilla server so that we can give you that new content as soon as physically possible!

    Dominion is hosting a cross community Race for the Wool event! We are inviting our friends from Nebula and Near Vanilla to compete with us in a competition to prove which team has the fastest and most dangerous gamers🤩⚔️. This tournament will determine which team has the fastest and most dangerous gamers 🤩⚔️. This event will take place over multiple weekends and feature different challenges at each stage 🏋️‍♂️! All teams will be created by the competitors and will be composed of 4 members, with 3 competing every map 🏹.
