We have more than 30 new custom enchants for gears and items and you can easy obtain them via fishing.
The server have no moderators or admins to ban you, mute you or do anything, if you grief someone their base is gone forever, no rollbacks, no map resets, just like the real world the map is taking shape over the years.

Our Quest world is incredibly large, beautiful, and full of addictive content. Starting off in the Low Town district of the city, you help dismantle a band of killer cultists and their leader. Then upon gathering further intelligence you enter the sewers beneath the city to battle your way to ultimately defeating the Arch-Lich Angvoth and his armies of terrible minions and strong and smart officers. Your journey moves on past that for hours and hours and hours of blood chilling thrills and moving stories.
The class system used in Questing is complex but simple to use. Swordsman, Mage, Thief, Archer. The choice is yours but how your extra abilities, special attributes, and equipment are set can turn you into a hybrid powerhouse or anything your heart desires.
Even our equipment is different! No longer do Enchantments and armor type rule the playing field. Complete Quests, defeat bosses, win events and obtain items with Strength, Vitality, Dexterity, and a huge slew of other variable factors to increase your potential and power! Varying tiers of equipment rarity allow you to work for the best but also make it rarely available to those that dont want to quest or do other tough things but are diligent in mob slaying or other smaller tasks.

Our main guideline to leave the "meta" of pure Vanilla survival as unaltered as possible (for a public server).
The only 3 plugins that interfere with this are:
GriefPrevention, a sleep voting plugin, and player item shops for trading. That means as many features from other plugins you know from other servers are absent by design and won't be added. There are two ranks "new" and "player"they do not give any benefits. You can not buy "power" for real money here and we have no adminshops. Everything on the map was build and farmed in survival. What you have read so far sounds like your cup of tea? Well then you may fit right in. Laid back rules, a close-knit community, having some events from time to time, and there is always something you can help with. Staff and other players are usually available to help you. Need help digging? Just died far away? Raid an Ocean Monument? No problem! We also have a Hermitcraft-like shop area for players using a trade shop plugin.

Gameplay
This is supposed to feel like a vanilla server. The default currency is diamonds. This is not enforced its just what everyone uses. No warps, you have to walk, fly by Elytra, or set up infrastructure such as railroads or blue ice highways. You can focus on long term projects, take your time, because we NEVER RESET the map. No activity threshold! Megabases welcome! Leave for months, pick right up where you left.
In +7 years time we built a lot of farms and infrastructure. This makes it a lot easier to get going early in the game, especially for endgame-players. But fear not, there is always need for expanding upon whats already there.The spawn city is protected. Areas there are released for community builds. Outside the city you can build your own base(s). You will get more claimblocks during play.

Specs & Plugins
Hosted in Germany with 128GB Ram, a Intel i9-9900k, and 1TB NVMe SSD; the server runs on Paper. Regarding updates we don't always run the latest version but we plan to update to every major release eventually. In case an update brings a big change in world generation (e.g. 1.18) we delete chunks that have been loaded less than 5 minutes. Meaning someone likely just passed by while exploring.
For land claiming we use GriefPrevention, which lets you protect areas you selected with a golden shovel. You can allow certain or all players to build and or access chests/buttons, on your claim. It also protects your claims and the worlds surface from creepers. Then there is also a chest shop plugin. You can use iron nuggets to create villager-like trades. You can do this anywhere, but its recommended to do this in the shopping area or your claim. Harbor is a plugin which skips the night, if 20% or more players are in bed. Lastly there is one that lets you rotate Glazed Terracotta.
Additionally we have some datapacks and tweaks: Ghasts don't break nether blocks. You can silent mobs by naming them "silent" (undo with "unsilent"). Your 1st kill of the Enderdragon gets you an Elytra. Craftable Enchanted Golden Apples. Hermitcraft posable Armorstands. Some recipes have been tweaked (bone blocks directly from bones, recolor glass,… )

Season 5 of Refuge SMP launched on 4/13 and was updated to 1.21.1 on 9/13. Join us in a world where we collaborate and enjoy an alternate reality together! Before applying, please read these few short rules (closely modeled after HermitCraft) and requirements we have agreed on to keep the community carefree and enjoyable for everyone:
Basic Rules:
- Be Friendly (Zero tolerance for harassment or bullying of any nature)
- Be a Community Player (don’t be stingy on the server, we like to help each other!)
- NO Griefing (friendly pranking is allowed) – 1 warning before kick
- Absolutely NO Hacking/Cheating – Zero Tolerance
- Be Considerate (don’t be rude or cause arguments)
- Have Fun!!!
Requirements:

- Must be LGBTQIA+ Friendly (in or supportive of the community)
- Simple Voice (Fabric) (Necessary to log into the server but does not have to be used)

What kind of server is Refuge?
We are a Java SMP using the Bloom Hosting platform with admins/owners located in the US and AUS, so there will always be staff around to help! A full list of the QoL mods and vanilla tweaks we use is available in Discord. We have a casual player base of very friendly and welcoming avid Minecraft players ranging from age 18 to 35 and located in Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, the UK, and the US. Understanding that everyone has a life outside of gaming, there is no minimum activity requirement. Just come and chill when you like (:
Following the traits of Hermitcraft season 9, we strive to be a community-orientated server that stays somewhat close together. The idea is that groups are formed so that each time you log in something new is happening on the server, rather than an SMP where everyone is distant and antisocial. We don’t plan much of an economy and prefer to share resources; however, shops are always welcome and we typically do create a shopping district/area.
A donation page is set up via PayPal for the server to help with costs and go towards future upgrades, with in-game cosmetic gifts for donors (these do not affect the actual gameplay or mechanics). Donations are very much appreciated but in no way required for any activity on the server.

About the server:
- Proximity chat: A voice chat mod for a more immersive experience.
- Nice community: A small, chill community that you can hang out with.
- Votes and suggestions: Suggest and vote on changes for the server.
- Whitelist: Server has applications to keep the griefers out.
- Mods: A few QoL mods/datapacks for a better experience.
- No TP: No such mods as /tpa or /home to keep the server vanilla.
What kind of people am I looking for?
