Direwood extends the typical minecraft progression system through levelledmobs, aurelliumskills, enchanted books and a wide variety of custom items. Spawn is surrounded by a “safe” area of 500 blocks where mobs remain vanilla, after which they slowly increase in strength, armor, speed, lock on distance and health. To manage high level mobs, players must take advantage of aurellium skills progression and items added to level dependent mob drop tables. Whereas protection 4 diamond armor is normally the end game, players have the opportunity to find enchanted books up to protection 10, ditto for other enchantments.
Unique items are created through a combination of vanilla enchantments, modded enchantments, attributes, and aurelliumskills stat modifiers. Progression is no longer strictly linear, as players now have choices such as choosing damage enhancing leather armor over the standard diamond, or mobility enhancing boots.
The end is now truly the “end”. Instead of finding end portals, end portal frames are dropped by end game overworld mobs, and can be mined. This allows players to create end portals in their own base, should they desire. But this decision was not arbitrary; the mob level cap is significantly higher within the end, as are the drop tables.
Players can choose to play unaffected by this if they desire, as the area before mobs become noticeably harder is large. Content was structured to provide an optional set of end game goals while not hindering or overwhelming uninterested players.
Mobs such as wolves and cats also scale, but based off an RNG system. Can you find a max level wolf to accompany you?

Direwood uses towny as our land claiming service. spawn itself was designed to mimic a town, and uses towny as opposed to worldedit. The goal is for player created towns to grow and rival that of spawn, potentially becoming their own central hubs. Players will have the oppurtunity to create their own warps, pvp arenas, minigames, mob arenas, and whatever else they may choose with the combined utility of essentials and towny.
though creating and maintaining a town requires funds; Direwood uses chestshop and essentials economy to provide the basic economic structure. Spawn is filled with vendors where players can buy and sell items, allowing them to fund their own cities. Players can create their own shops as well, to buy and sell to each other.

Most players have a somewhat single player experience in online servers- they find somewhere to hide, and build their empire with chat in the background. To foster a sense of community, incentivizing players to interact with each other has been part of our server design process. Leveled mobs provides a “soft” world border, encouraging players to stay relatively close together. Because items can only be bought and sold to the server through sign shops, players are encouraged to visit spawn and treat is as a central trade hub. Also, Towns can be difficult to maintain as an individual if they get large enough, encouraging players to team up and work together. The ability for players to set their own warps encourages healthy, building based competition – which town has the best facilities and arenas?

I have been working on this server non stop for about a month now, and just bought a host and decided to launch. I am exited to meet you all, and look forward to the servers progress.
There is still some work to be done, i’m sure the economy especially will need to be balanced as its hard to guess correct prices beforehand. More custom items, mob arenas, a linked hardcore world that resets periodically, more mini games, more quests, boss battles, and much more. We are a new server – our community and buildings are all since mid February of 2024. Our current map is 14k by 14k, and will continue expanding to make new vanilla content accessible as it is released and accommodate more players as the server grows. We have a large expansion planned for after the 1.21 update. Our vision is to have a server that is as vanilla as possible, while also addressing various QoL issues that come along with a large playerbase on an unwhitelisted server. As such, we have implemented a handful of plugins including renewable elytra (via the ender dragon fight), a simple chest shop system using currency that is interconvertible with diamonds, and night skip with just one player sleeping.
We have an outstanding community of builders! From skyscrapers and cozy villages to high-efficiency iron and raid farms, we have it all. We have no land claims plugin, but rest assured your builds and items are safe. We use CoreProtect, a plugin which keeps detailed logs of blocks, items, entities, and more. It allows for custom, precision rollbacks of specific players, time ranges, locations, and more. This allows for convenient grief reversal in real time. The CoreProtect inspect command is enabled for all players, which allows you to check the logs of containers and blocks; you can see if alterations have been made by someone who does or does not have your permission without needing staff assistance.
We have an amazing staff team. Many of our staff members are also our most active players, and we have staff from various timezones around the globe to provide support throughout the day and night hours. We are responsive on Discord, and care about helping out the community and spreading good vibes.
Community First: Our primary goal is to foster a fun, cooperative, supportive community on our server. Profit from the server is not a short or long-term goal. We want to scale and develop our community, but at a pace that is reasonable and sustainable.
Long-Term Map: We plan to never reset the map. We want builds, farms, and communities made on the server to be permanent, and this is why we have opted for an expanding map to incorporate content from new releases.
Golden Rule: Respect. Other. Players. You can see a more precise list of rules on our spawn board or Discord server, but in general all rules follow from the simple principles of respecting others and using common sense.
Work Hard, Play Hard: The server is on hard difficulty. There is no keepinventory, no /tp, no /back, no warps other than /spawn and /home, and staff will not use tools to roll back legitimate deaths or mistakes that do not violate the rules. We hope in our community you will become a pro gamer, and this means learning to navigate all the difficulties of the Minecraft world, even if they are sometimes frustrating or inconvenient. We aim to preserve the minimalism and realism of Minecraft, as we believe these features are essential for maximizing players' sense of immersion in our world and community. Alinea is a cooperative server, so most things that do not actively ruin the experience for other players are permitted. You can check an updated summary of the rules on our website. Various settlements on the server might agree to some additional rules amongst themselves.
Alinea has a custom expansion to the vanilla enchantment system. Once you are rich and swimming in resources, you can try creating some unstable enchantments. Combining two max-level vanilla enchanted books, it will create an unstable book of the next level. These books cannot be added to tools or equipment, but must be polished by combining them with enchantment polish in an anvil. However, enchantment polish is extremely expensive.
Many enchantments are available up to level 20, but so far no one has managed to forge a book that powerful. Overpowered books, most notably looting, fortune and efficiency, do not have unstable variants, and are locked to the vanilla enchantment limit.
Alinea has many custom enchantments. You do not need to install any modifications to be able to use them!

– Proximity voice chat: We believe that the community is the main thing in an SMP server, which is why voice chat is essential for making new friends and meeting your friends!
– Waystones: Having to keep walking can be very annoying, but you can always give TP too! That's why we use the Waystones system.
– Once you've met your friends or explored some new terrain, you can simply teleport there with your Waystones!
– Land: We have a territory marking system to ensure that your buildings remain safe! The community is very friendly and understanding, but it is still a public servant and we will always have bad apples. Therefore, always protect your village by demarcating its territory!
– Enable or disable PVP: Not everyone likes to fight or take risks wherever they go, so you can enable or disable PVP whenever you want!
– Tombs: Dying should be part of the challenge but cannot ruin your gameplay. We have a tomb system where you can retrieve your items if you can get to where you died within 24 hours!

The Unity Server is looking for more active players to join us! We're a long-term focused server with around 15 active players, so we would like to see people working towards larger projects and dedicating a fair amount of game time to the community and economy. We are a 21+ server, no exceptions. We are looking for active players, so if you drop off without notice, you are subject to removal. We are a casual server, but we are consistently online and interacting with each other both in discord and on the server.
We've been around for over five years, and will be resetting our world for the 1.21 update on Sunday, June 23. Don't worry though, there is much to be built on the server still, and a place for many new players looking for the perfect community!
Rules
Respect other player's builds and personal property, generally just don't be a dick
Please build bases within a 300-2500 block radius from spawn. Please contact an admin if you are unsure or feel you have a special case and plan to build somewhere outside the designated area. Farms and large-scale secondary projects can be built further out than 2500 blocks, within reason.
Spawn is reserved for shops and community projects/services, any bases or unapproved projects built there are subject to removal.
As this is a community based server…be friendly! Reach out to other players if you need help with something, and pitch in if you see another player who could use help. Ultimately, we are hoping this server concept will allow for incredible builds and an especially enjoyable player experience.

Please don't invite people to the discord server without asking a mod first, we like to keep track of who came from where so we know the most effective ways of getting new people.
Rail Duping, carpet duping, and TNT duping are allowed on the server. The duplication of gravity based blocks such as sand and concrete are currently NOT permitted.
The AFK-ing of farms is permitted during late night hours between 3am and 12pm when the server is less active. If you choose to AFK farms with redstone intensive systems or high mob spawns that negatively affect other players online, you are subject to getting kicked temporarily until these hours. The AFK-ing of villagers, passive growth farms such as sugar cane, or small mob farms with fast kill designs are not included in this restriction.
The use of X-ray is NOT permitted on the server. If you are caught using X-ray for personal gain you are subject to immediate removal from Unity.
The use of client side mods is permitted on Unity. However, if these mods appear to other players or staff as becoming exploitive, you may be asked to remove said mods.
