100 years ago, a great calamity swept across the land, leaving behind ruins, lost history, and a whole lot of treasure. Now the world has been rediscovered and is being repopulated, and whatever you find out there is fair game. There are riches scattered all over just waiting to be claimed.
The few who survived the calamity are still around a century later and are known as The Ancients. Nobody really knows why they live so long, but their mystery is part of the story. The Badlands is where the biggest rewards are hiding, but it is dangerous on purpose: keep inventory, land claims, teleporting, and flying do not work there, so if you go in, be ready to risk what you carry.
There is also The Arena for settling disputes, fighting over rewards, and making a name for yourself. And yeah, the Weener Bandits are still out there causing trouble with their gold propaganda and weird statues, so keep an eye out. The story keeps growing with community input too, so players help shape what happens next.
