What is the setting?
Fables of Velorae is set within the vast world of Velorae. The server itself is placed on the small continent Brivaea, neighboured by two much more intimidating continents, Varilea, to the north, and Fadrean, to the south. The Austerian Kingdom rules over Brivaea and owns a set of subdomains in Varilea, and is powerful enough to be considered a superpower within worldwide politics. This does not halt its competitors, however, as the heir to a once-great Empire, as well as a culturally different but equally powerful civilization to the south, all scramble to the top. To make matters complicated, a recent pandemic spread across the eastern world which enveloped these superpowers in a plague that lasted one year short of a decade before swiftly dying out. To present date, these great Kingdoms are now freed of their infliction and the board of nations is ripe for the taking. Only time will tell what should become of these rising tensions.

How do I join?
Unlike many roleplay servers, you can immediately jump into the action by entering the server. We are a survival-based Minecraft server. The server itself is hosted in Canada, but most of us are from the USA. Much of the server content focuses around Greek Mythology, including the currency, death messages, and regions that display messages from gods. The gameplay is set to Hard Mode, which means that mobs will be stronger and the staff will not help any players with in-game matters such as food items or building blocks. If you get bored, the staff has created a variety of dungeons that serve as “easter eggs.” It is up to you (and your friends) to find an entrance, complete the challenges, and purchase the reward.

In order to gain access to the world, each player must use the command /rules, which displays the in-game rules and automatically sets your rank to Citizen. We use LWC to help players protect their items and homes. Griefing is legal, so be sure to use /lock and other LWC commands to protect your stuff! Aside from simply surviving and playing the classic Minecraft story, the player has the ability to climb the rank ladder by aiming towards in-game riches (Noble) or proving their strength (Hero). We have a set of commands that the player can use to explore the rank options (use /rank to get started). With the use of many plugins, the player has access to fun commands such as /pet, /marry, /disguise, and many more. In-game money can be obtained by voting with /vote, receiving a daily bonus with /kit free, or selling items to the Market (/warp market). Our Portal Room serves as a hub to many different locations and can be reached with /warp portals.

The Bleeding Heart SMP is only a few weeks old. It’s still small, still forming its history, and that’s kind of the point. Nothing here feels “finished” yet.. towns are half-built, alliances are still forming up, and the world hasn’t been griefed to oblivion.

What makes it different isn’t plugins or gimmicks, but how consequences work.

Death is permanent.
Unless someone else decides it shouldn’t be.

If a player dies, their head remains at the place they fell. Another player can recover it and, with effort and (a lot) of resources, bring them back through a revival shrine. Survival becomes social by necessity: you’re safer if people care whether you live.

A few other things that are worth mentioning:

The map is almost infinite, with the Far Lands over 12 million blocks out. You can walk away from everything if you want to. World border at 30 million blocks. What brings people together is the necessity to trade heads to revive their friends, amongst other things.

We run on FabricMC. TNT duping, gravity blocks & rails duping works. Complex redstone works as intended. (Yes, this means orbital strike cannons are technically possible!)

There is only one mace on the entire server, so far in the few weeks we’ve been online, it has swapped owners 3 or 4 times.

The player base is still small and growing. That means reputations form quickly, choices linger, and actions actually matter. So far, we’ve had a little over 200 players join, which is honestly crazy to me for such a small amount of uptime, I can never thank them enough.

If you’re looking for a loud server with constant events and instant progression, loot boxes and pay to win, this is not it. There isn’t and will never be any method of paying to get loot on the Bleeding Heart SMP.

If you’re looking for a place where the early days matter, where survival feels earned, and where the world will remember what players did first, please consider giving it a try. No harm in checking it out and leaving if it’s not for you.
