Above The Clouds is a server created by and for players who are nostalgic for the earlier days of Minecraft, but who also want something more challenging and meaningful from their survival playthrough. We are completely against pay-to-win mechanics, and have outright removed any and all forms of donation!

The World
Above The Clouds takes place in Eversky – a custom-generated world exclusively made from floating islands based on alpha world settings. There is a heavy focus on creating scenic but habitable areas. Rest assured that you will never see terrain quite like this anywhere else. Glowing auroras weave between wandering dungeons, trees the size of cities grow beneath oceans that float like clouds.
The world is dotted with settlements, ruins, and fortresses to aid, conquer, or reclaim, and monthly updates ensure that you will never run out of places to explore!

If a custom world and an arms-open community aren’t already enough, we also boast an optional open-world adventure map where your choices actually matter! Eversky boasts the first Dynamic Minecraft Adventure Map – a team of writers and coders constantly re-write the story based on what the community does, and what YOU do. The result? On Wizardry, you slay monsters, survive blood moons, fight bosses, level up spells, go on quests, summon minions, get achievements, find rare items, craft powerful spells, and explore dangerous and ruins. Remember the days when Factions used to be fun? Remember that adrenaline rush you had when you first got raided? I know we do. We want to make Factions fun again. That, unfortunately will require a bit of sacrifice, but its worth it. Just factions. No confusion.

No confusion
Weve striven to make our server as simple as possible. On Sky Lair, the focus is on Factions. The Faction gamemode was made to be competitive. When servers give out free diamonds to everyone, it ruins that competitive aspect. Weve tried our best to keep Factions competitive.

Reliability
Its always devastating to log onto a server that youve spent hours of time on and see that all your progress is gone– because of a server reset. We plan to keep our map for as long as is physically possible. That means your builds will always be accessible. We also back up our server every single day, and back it up to an external location every week. We know that bad things out of our control are bound to happen, but we will be prepared. You can rely on us.

A Powerful Economy
Weve tried our best to keep a dynamic economy. Rather than sell everything in one central server shop, our players are given a chance to rent and build their own shops. And because of that, our economy is dynamic. It changes based on what the players think are good prices.

Diamonds Have Worth
How many servers nowadays do you see that have donator kits that give things like “3 sets of Protection IV Diamond Armor” or that give you free diamond armor the moment you join? That ruins the entire economy. As you know, diamonds are the pinnacle of a minecraft economy. Ruin the worth of diamonds, and your entire economy collapses. We think weve found the sweet spot of diamond value.

Do you know where all your wool is – but forget quiz questions? Imagining where you put each item can be fun.

This server is an experimental place to think through memory practices. Mix organizing items with whatever you want to learn. Nametags, written books, containers and anvils can craft memory walks. There’s also Survival, with some pros and cons:

-Bleeding edge terrain may lag without chunk pre-gen
-No cool fabric mods, but non-fabric clients just work

Why reset? There are separate dimensions, 1 for crafting memory places and 1 for finding resources. The memory crafting (flat jungle) dimension does not reset. You can craft a memory place and use it for many months. Plus, it’s more interesting to have a set of fresh dimensions every month.
