You will begin your survival experience in the firey depths of the nether where you are greeted by your new home.. The nether portals are all linked to a nether re-entry portal leaving you trapped in the firey abyss. Only during overworld unlock events do the portals fix themselves and allows you a limited time to scavenge for resources rush back to the nether before the overworld breaks again.
